Halloween Flash: True Love

In the spirit of Halloween, I’m re-running one of my old flash fiction pieces. True Love was originally published at the Molotov Cocktail  back in 2010. Hope you enjoy it!

William waits outside my window every night. He hides in the bushes with his hunting knife, waiting for my parents to go to bed. My parents don’t understand. They’re all old and dried up but William is different. He’s older, but he gets me. Everything I do fascinates him because I’m beautiful and pure. He told me so. It makes him cry sometimes. He strokes my cheek and says he’ll watch over me. William promised me that I’ll never get old or boring. He’ll keep me the way I am right now, forever. That’s how I know he loves me.
